So we have been blogging for a few months now, and I feel like I have enough experience at this point to share with the world everything that is horrible about blogging. It definitely has its perks, and I have found I enjoy more of it than I thought I would before I began. Plus, it has proved to be more useful than I would like to admit. But that’s not what I want to talk about today. Today is just for the annoying stuff!
If you have been thinking about starting a blog, these are all the things that suck about having one.
1. You have to have content EVERY DAY
There’s no point in having a blog if you don’t have people who read it. One of the main ways of getting yourself out there is by staying consistent. As long as you’re consistent and you have searchable titles, you should pop up on google when people are searching for stuff.
But having content for every day is really hard! Even if you have a few people who are helping you, it’s still a huge commitment. If you aren’t prepared for the enormous headache that seems to accompany writing articles once a month, then don’t start a blog!
2. You have to come up with interesting stuff to say
When you first start a blog, you might think, hey, this is pretty simple. I can write these few posts that I have in my head and then worry about next months’ posts later. Next month comes around, and then you realize that you used up all your good material last month.
In everything I do now, I am looking for a way to blog about it because it really sucks when you run out of content. I mean, look at this post. I’m blogging about blogging. It’s getting pathetic. If you don’t want to be pathetic, don’t start a blog!
3. Everyone will know what you’re thinking
Even if you try to hide your true thoughts while writing handy little how to’s and reviews on movies, somehow your own thoughts end up leaking onto the page. And they probably should because otherwise it would be really boring to read.
But if you’re someone who doesn’t like everyone to know the inner workings of your head (like me), then don’t start a blog!
Have I convinced you?
What do you like/not like about blogging?
